The next draft of Miners is ready to go!
In September, I asked for beta readers to help find problems in an early draft of the manuscript. Since then, a handful of people volunteered and helped improve the manuscript substantially. I’ve incorporated the majority of suggestions so far and cut down many parts of the story that weren’t working.
While I think it’s in good enough shape for a wider audience, be warned. There are still pacing problems, and some portions are bloated, others underdeveloped. Hopefully, by opening it up to everyone now, I can address even more comments.
If you’re interested in taking a peek, the story is 55k words— about the length of a very short novel. Google estimates it should take about 3 hours to read if you are able to stick it out to the end.
Here’s the jacket blurb:
Kaylee, an academic deserter, and Jorge, a self-described alien, plan a way to beat death by redesigning a dangerous parasite. They find the perfect subject to test their technology on— Matteo, an unlikely criminal with a short lifespan. However, keeping their experimental plans hidden from him may have deadly consequences.
